The brake transmission interlock (BTSI) system prevents the automatic transaxle from being shifted out of PARK unless the brake pedal is depressed. When the brake pedal is depressed, the BTSI solenoid (3, or 2) releases a magnetic lock. This enables the following actions to occur:
• | The shift cable to move |
• | The shift lever to operate |
You may override the BTSI system by turning the ignition lock to OFF. This removes battery voltage from the solenoid and leaves the solenoid de-energized.
