Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 37097-A Hose Clamp Pliers

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  2. Object Number: 327318  Size: MH
  3. Remove the heater hoses (2) from the heater core using the J 37097-A .
  4. Remove the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  5. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  6. Remove the temperature valve actuator. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement .
  7. Remove the HVAC programmer (C68). Refer to Programmer Replacement

  9. Remove the heater core cover retaining screws.
  10. Remove the heater core cover.
  11. Remove the heater core retaining screws.
  12. Remove the heater core.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater core into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the attaching screws.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  5. Install the heater core cover.
  6. Install the attaching screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  8. Install the HVAC programmer (C68). Refer to Programmer Replacement
  9. Install the temperature valve actuator. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement .
  10. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  11. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  12. Object Number: 327318  Size: MH
  13. Install the heater hoses (2) to the heater core using the J 37097-A .
  14. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
