Control Assembly Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the IP cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 401603  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining screws from the HVAC control assembly.
  4. Pull the assembly out from the instrument panel.

  5. Object Number: 401607  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 401607  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connectors to the HVAC control assembly.

  2. Object Number: 401603  Size: SH
  3. Install the HVAC control assembly into the instrument panel.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the retaining screws to secure the HVAC control assembly.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  7. Install the IP cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Control Assembly Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Guages and Console.

  2. Object Number: 401614  Size: SH
  3. Gently pry the assembly out from the instrument panel.

  4. Object Number: 401610  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the electrical and vacuum connectors.
  6. Remove the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 401610  Size: SH
  1. Connect the vacuum and electrical connectors to the HVAC control assembly.

  2. Object Number: 401614  Size: SH
  3. Install the HVAC control assembly into the instrument panel by snapping into place.
  4. Install the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Guages and Console.

Control Assembly Replacement Pontiac

  1. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 401592  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining screws from the HVAC control assembly.
  4. Pull the assembly out from the instrument panel.

  5. Object Number: 401619  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical and vacuum connectors.
  7. Remove the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 401619  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical and vacuum connectors to the HVAC control assembly.

  2. Object Number: 401592  Size: SH
  3. Install the HVAC control assembly into the instrument panel by snapping into place.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.
