The automatic door lock function is controlled by the remote function actuator (RFA) module on the vehicles equipped with the keyless entry. The RFA module receives a signal from the park/neutral position switch signaling whether or not the gear selector is in PARK. The RFA module provides a signal to the MALL to lock the doors under the following conditions:
• | The left front door is closed. |
• | The vehicle is in RUN. |
• | The gear selector is shifted out of PARK. |
If programmed to do so, the RFA module also unlocks the doors when the gear selector is put back in to PARK.
The automatic door lock function provides for the following four selectable settings:
Programming may be accomplished by using the scan tool and accessing RFA special feature menu set option/FOB option #2, through the following method:
Ensure the following conditions:
• | The ignition is in the ON position |
• | The vehicle is in PARK |
• | All of the vehicle's doors are closed. |
Once these conditions are met, hold the door lock switch and press the lock button on the customer's transmitter. After the initial activation of the transmitter LOCK button, each additional activation will increment the Automatic Door Lock (ADL) mode by one, starting from the current ADL mode. If cycled beyond ADL mode 3, the RFA module will enter mode 0. During this customization procedure, the automatic door lock and unlock shall operate as defined, providing the customer with feedback of the current ADL mode. When the door lock switch is released, the RFA module shall remain in the most recent ADL mode. Note that since mode 0 has no ADL functions, no feedback is provided.
Note also that if ignition voltage is lost or any door is opened while in the customization procedure the ADL procedure will be terminated and the RFA module will remain in the most recent mode.
Important: The delayed locking feature must be initially enabled with the scan tool in order to gain access to this feature.
The RFA module software for the delayed locking feature is turned off on all new vehicles and service replacement parts.Use the following procedure in order to perform the initial activation of delayed locking:
• | Follow the screen prompts and instructions. |
• | During step 8 use the EXIT key in order to change from one function screen to another. Do not use the YES or NO keys. If the YES or NO keys are pressed other features may be disabled. |
Activate the delayed locking feature by using the following procedures:
Opening any door before the 5 seconds have elapsed will suspend the timer and cause it to reset once all the doors are closed again. This feature may be programmed on or off for each transmitter.
Use the following procedure in order to deactivate the Delayed Locking feature:
Hold the lock switch on in order to activate the delayed locking feature.
