TILT AND TELESCOPING STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT

A CONDITION MAY BE EXPERIENCED WHERE IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE A DESIGN II STEERING WHEEL ON A 1983, 1984 AND 1985 DELTA 88 OR NINETY- EIGHT OLDSMOBILE. SHOULD THIS OCCUR, A DESIGN III STEERING WHEEL MUST BE INSTALLED IN PLACE OF THE DESIGN II STEERING WHEEL. REFER TO FIGURE 1. THREE (3) PART NUMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE. 1. STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE REMOVE THE FOLLOWING DESIGN II PARTS, SEE FIGURE 1A: HORN PAD, STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY, SPRING SAVE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS FOR REUSE: TWO (2) SCREWS (HORN PAD) STEERING SHAFT NUT AND RETAINER INSTALLATION - FIGURE 1B. 1. PAINT SHROUD TO MATCH. 2. ASSEMBLE SHROUD TO ASSEMBLY WHEEL, USING SCREWS (11502816). 3. INSTALL SPRING AND STEERING WHEEL ON COLUMN. 4. TIGHTEN STEERING SHAFT NUT AND INSTALL RETAINER. 5. INSTALL LEVER AND ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY USING SCREWS (11502816). ADJUST FOR PROPER LOCK/RELEASE CONTROL OF TELESCOPE FEATURE. 6. INSTALL HORN CONTACT AND PAD ASSEMBLY. WARRANTY INFORMATION E7030 .4 HR.
