REAR BRAKE NOISE (REPL. BROKEN PARK BRK. SPRING W/NEW KIT)

SUBJECT: REAR BRAKE NOISE - REPLACE BROKEN PARK BRAKE SPRING WITH NEW SERVICE KIT

MODEL/YEARS: 1992 EIGHTY EIGHT, NINETY EIGHT 1992 SILHOUETTE

CONDITION: Noise in rear brake, increased pedal travel over time, or one wheel slides. Vehicles within the following VIN ranges are involved.

Eighty Eight NH331920 - NH351783 N1805788 - N1815018

Ninety Eight N4309434 - N4325692 Silhouette (none provided)

CAUSE: Rear parking brake adjuster spring breaks at either attaching points.

CORRECTION: Install new service spring kit with the following P/N:

Eighty Eight, Ninety Eight - 18020401 Silhouette - 18020402

Parts are currently available from GMSPO. This kit includes springs, actuators, and instructions for both rear brakes. Replace both sides at the same time, even if only one is broken.
