Removal Procedure

Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.

Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

Important: If abnormal noise or vibration is felt from the engine compartment, inspect and clean the fan blades as necessary.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
  3. Remove the wiring harness and the clips from the fan motors.

  4. Object Number: 125810  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fan mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the fans.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fans.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fan mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53  lb  in).

  5. Install the wiring harness to the fan motors and clips.
  6. Install the engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
  7. Inspect for correct operation of the fan motor.
