Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System.
  4. Remove the fuse block. Refer to Fuse Block Replacement .
  5. Remove the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  6. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  7. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Release Lever Replacement .
  8. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  9. Remove the audio system. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  10. Remove the heater A/C controls. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  11. Remove the switch bank. Refer to Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement - Instrument Panel in Lighting Systems.
  12. Remove the instrument panel upper trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  13. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  14. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  15. Object Number: 318207  Size: LH
  16. Remove the bolts/screws (1) that secure the instrument panel (3) to the body.
  17. Lift up from the bottom of the instrument panel in order to release the IP top retainers.
  18. Remove the wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement .
  19. Remove the instrument panel (3) from the body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 318207  Size: LH

    Important: The instrument panel will rest off of the lower mounts when you lower the instrument panel. This will aid in the routing of the wiring harness. Prop the instrument panel up in order to route the harness, as needed.

  1. Perform the following steps in order to install the instrument panel (2) to the body:
  2. 1.1. Secure the top retainers.
    1.2. Lower the instrument panel.
  3. Install the wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement .
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the bolts/screws (1) to the instrument panel body (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the headlamp switch. Refer Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  9. Install the instrument panel upper trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  10. Install the switch bank. Refer to Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement - Instrument Panel in Lighting Systems.
  11. Install the heater A/C controls. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  12. Install the audio system. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  13. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  14. Install the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Release Lever Replacement .
  15. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column
  16. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  17. Install the fuse block. Refer to Fuse Block Replacement .
  18. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System.
  19. Remove the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  20. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
