Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injection sight shield. Refer toFuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in engine mechanical.

  2. Object Number: 12831  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the accelerator cable cross slug from throttle body slot.
  4. Depress the tangs and remove the accelerator cable from accelerator cable bracket.
  5. Disconnect the cruse control cable from the bracket.
  6. Remove breather tube from air intake duct.
  7. Remove air intake duct.

  9. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the accelerator cable bracket to the throttle body.
  10. Remove the accelerator cable bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 260171  Size: SH
  1. Position the accelerator cable bracket on the throttle body.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the nuts and bolts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolts in sequence (2,1) to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
        • Tighten the nut in sequence (3) to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
  5. Reinstall the fuel injection sight shield. Refer toFuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in engine mechanical.
  6. Connect cruse and control cable into the accelerator cable bracket.

  7. Object Number: 12831  Size: SH
  8. Connect the accelerator cable into accelerator cable bracket.
  9. Connect the accelerator cable cross slug to the throttle body slots.
  10. Reinstall the air intake duct.
  11. Reinstall breather tube into the air intake duct.
