The EBCM/EBTCM contains sophisticated on-board diagnostics
which can identify the source of any system malfunction as specifically as
possible. The EBCM/EBTCM on-board diagnostics also diagnose whether the malfunction
is intermittent. There are 71 diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) that
assist with diagnostics. The DTC represents the malfunction and turns on the
ABS or TCS indicator (in almost all instances).
The following actions occur when using the Scan Tool with the ABS/TCS:
| • | The Scan Tool specifically identifies the last DTC. |
| • | The specific ABS or TCS data stores at the time of the malfunction. |
| • | Information about the first three DTCs set and the last DTC set
becomes available. |
| • | Inputs and outputs can be monitored. |
| • | Malfunction confirmation and repair verification are enabled. |
| • | The manual control of components and the automated functional
tests become available. |
