Driver or Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement Passenger
Removal Procedure
Caution: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following
parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary:

Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
.
- Remove the passenger front seat. Refer to
Bucket Seat Replacement
in Seats.
- Unclip the J-clips on the back of the passenger's seat.
- Remove the screw (3).
- Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the plastic molding that
holds the air bag inflator module to the passenger seat back frame.
- Note the routing of the
wiring harness (2) on the air bag inflator module and the retaining
clip attachments.
- Remove the wiring harness retaining clips to the air bag inflator
module from the passenger seat frame.
- Remove the wiring harness (2) to the air bag inflator module
from the passenger seat frame.
- Remove the air bag inflator module (1) from the passenger
seat back frame.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wiring harness (2)
for the air bag inflator module to the passenger seat frame, while guiding
the wiring harness through the appropriate spots.
- Install the wiring harness retaining clips for the air bag inflator
module to the passenger seat frame.
- Install the plastic molding
that holds the air bag inflator module to the passenger seat back frame.
- Install the air bag inflator module to the passenger seat back
frame
- Install the screw (3).
- Connect the J-clips on the back of the passenger's seat.
- Install the passenger front seat. Refer to
Bucket Seat Replacement
in Seats.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
.
- Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced
under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required
retention period. Refer to
Inflator Module Handling, Shipping, and Scrapping
.

wiring harness through the appropriate spots on the frame.
- Install the wiring harness retaining clips for the air bag inflator
module to the driver seat frame.
- Install the plastic molding
that holds the air bag inflator module to the driver seat back frame.
- Install the air bag inflator module to the driver seat back frame.
- Install the screw (3).
- Connect the J-clips on the back of driver's seat.
- Install the driver seat. Refer to
Bucket Seat Replacement
in Seats.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
.
- Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced
