Check the vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

Are any DTCs present?

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Engine Controls

Go to Step 2

  1. Disconnect the driver information display connector
  2. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), probe between the driver information display harness connector terminal 14 and ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

9 - 14 V

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Repair poor connection, open or short to ground in CKT 640 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 14 and the underhood accessory junction wiring block connector C2 terminal F7 (RADIO fuse).

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Using a J 39200 DMM, probe between the driver information display harness connector terminal 7 and ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

9 - 14 V

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Repair poor connection, open or short to ground in CKT 43 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 7 and and terminal D6 of the MALL/RADIO/DIC fuse in the fuse block.

Has the repair been completed and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Using a J 39200 DMM, probe between the driver information display harness connector terminal 8 and ground.

Is the measured resistance to ground within the specified value?

0 - 3 ohms

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Repair poor connection or open in CKT 1550 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 8 and G200.

Has the repair been completed and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

Replace the driver information display. Refer to Driver Information Center Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
