Important: Perform the system check prior to performing this procedure in order to ensure that all of the park brake system components are operating properly. Refer to Park Brake System Check .

1. Apply the parking brake until three clicks are heard.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
3. Use your hands in order to rotate both of the rear wheels. If both of the rear the wheels exhibit drag or do not rotate, the park brake cable is adjusted properly.

If either of the rear wheels rotate freely, perform the following steps:

Important: The brake linings must be adjusted prior to adjusting the park brake cable.

3.1.	Adjust the applicable brake lining as necessary. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment in Drum Brakes.





3.2.	Tighten the park brake equalizer nut until both rear wheels exhibit drag or do not rotate.

3.3.	Release the parking brake.

3.4.	Verify that both rear wheels rotate freely.

4. Lower the vehicle.
