DEFINITION: Front fog lamps are always on, or the front fog lamps are on with the fog lamp switch in the OFF position and park lamps on.

  1. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  2. Turn the fog lamp switch to the OFF position.

Are the fog lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Remove the fog lamp relay.

Are the fog lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 7

Probe the control circuit of the fog lamp relay connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  2. Probe the control circuit of the fog lamp relay connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Test the fog lamp relay control circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 11

Test the fog lamp supply voltage circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the junction block - underhood. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

  1. Replace the fog lamp switch. Refer to Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the fog lamp relay.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect all connectors that were previously disconnected.
  2. Verify that the fog lamps operate properly.

Do the fog lamps operate properly?

System OK

DEFINITION: The rear fog lamps are on at all times or the rear fog lamps are on at all times with the headlamps on.

Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.

Are the rear fog lamps ON?

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the rear fog lamp relay.

Are the rear fog lamps still on?

Go to Step 10

Probe the control circuit of the rear fog lamp relay connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the rear fog lamp module connector.
  2. Probe the control circuit of the rear fog lamp relay connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Probe the fog lamp switch signal circuit of the rear fog lamp module connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the rear fog lamp switch connector.
  2. Probe the fog lamp switch signal circuit of the rear fog lamp module connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair a short to ground in the signal circuit of the rear fog lamp switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a short to ground in the control circuit of the rear fog lamp relay . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to voltage in the supply voltage circuit of the rear fog lamps. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear window wiper/washer and multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement - Instrument Panel .
