Schematic Reference: Video System Schematics
| • | Many conditions that affect video system operation may be corrected without removing the radio, the video cassette player (VCP) or the video display from the vehicle. Make sure to understand all features of system operation before beginning the diagnosis of the system. Verify the condition and follow the diagnostic procedures in order to isolate and correct the condition. |
| • | Be sure the vehicle battery is fully charged before beginning video system diagnosis. |
| • | Make sure to test all functions of the rear seat audio and radio before troubleshooting the rear video system. |
| • | If there is no audio from one side of the rear/overhead speakers during video play only, make sure to test the balance and fade of the rear video audio using the remote control menu functions. |
| • | If any problems exist with the headphones (including weak battery, out-of range reception, etc.), use the rear video self-test as a quick check of the functionality of the headphones. |
| • | If a problem exists with the video system picture or the video system audio but the rear seat audio functions are all OK, try connecting a video source to the auxiliary RCA video jacks. If the video picture and sound are OK using an auxiliary video source, then the VCP and video display are probably OK. Troubleshoot the video cables, connectors and auxiliary board first. |
| • | The video display is the controller of the video entertainment system. |
