Removal Procedure
- Remove the left front sunshade. Refer to
Sunshade Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the garnish molding from the left front windshield. Refer
to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gages, and Console.
- Untape the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna coaxial cable
from the Onstar® harness and unroute the harness from the IP.
- Disconnect the GPS antenna coaxial cable from the vehicle interface
unit (VIU).
- Remove the antenna from the windshield and the roof panel.
- Clean the old residue
from the windshield using a razor blade and isopropyl alcohol.
Installation Procedure
- Using a grease pencil, mark the antenna location on the front
windshield 2 mm (0.079 in) down from the black-out area and
30 mm (1.18 in) from the side black-out area.
- Prepare the interior glass
using an isopropyl alcohol pad and a clean lint-free cloth.
- Remove the backing paper
from the antenna housing and begin removing the backing on the metallic strip.
- Install the GPS antenna onto the windshield at the marked location.
- Pull down gently on the headliner for best adhesion of the GPS
antenna and grounding tab.
- Remove the backing from the metallic strip and adhere the GPS
antenna to the roof.
- Connect the GPS antenna coaxial cable to the VIU.
- Route the GPS antenna coaxial cable through the IP and up the
left front A-pillar.
- Tape the GPS antenna coaxial cable to the OnStar® harness.
- Install the IP trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Install the garnish molding to the left front windshield. Refer
to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the left front sunshade. Refer to
Sunshade Replacement
in Interior Trim.
