Service VME - Towing Package Trailer Harness Color Coding

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

During April 2002 the trailer pigtail harness which is included in the towing accommodation package, RPO code V92, was changed to align its color codes better with after market converters. Warranty investigations showed many convertors miswired, causing blown fuses and customer disatisfaction. The new arrangement should help relieve this. Cavities A, B, C, and D remain the same. Cavity E changed from white to red, and cavity F changed from black to white. Please read the instructions included with the harness. If you use an outside shop to install a hitch and wire the vehicle please give them a heads up. If the instructions have been misplaced, the new harness wiring is:

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
