All 1984 Oldsmobile vehicles have a maintenance folder installed in the glove compartment at the time of production.
Two types of maintenance schedules are used for 1984 Oldsmobiles; a gasoline engine schedule and a diesel engine schedule.
The format of the maintenance schedules has been changed substantially. Four schedules of recommended intervals are shown, two for gasoline and two for diesel engines (Figures 1 and 2). The schedule the owner should follow depends on how the car is driven.
Schedule I is to be followed if the car is driven under one or more of these conditions:
Operating when outside temperatures remain below freezing and when most trips are less than 4 miles (6 kilometers); or
Idling for extended periods and/or low speed operation such as in door-to-door delivery;
Also follow Schedule I when:
Towing a trailer;
Operating in dusty areas; or
Using your car in taxi, police car, delivery or daily rental service.
Schodule II is to be followed if, as a general rule, the car is driven on a daily basis for several miles (kilometers); and
None of the conditions in Schedule I apply.
If a maintenance shedule is lost, additional schedules are available through your zone office.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
