Some 1991-92 Ninety Eight and Toronado, and early 1992 Eighty Eights equipped with 3800 T.P.I. (VIN L) engines, may exhibit a condition described as, engine does not stay running on initial cold start.
This calibration was a running change for the 1992 model year. Be sure to check MEM-CAL scanner I.D. as the vehicle may already have this correction.
If this condition is experienced and cannot be repaired by using currently published service diagnostic procedures, it may be necessary to install a new service MEM-CAL after basic engine controls and systems performance have been verified. Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
