ENGINE MAY EXPERIENCE COLD START STALL (INST. NEW MEMCAL)

SUBJECT: ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT COLD START STALL - INSTALL NEW MEM-CAL

MODELS/YEARS: 1991-92 NINETY EIGHT AND TORONADO/TROFEO AND 1992 EIGHTY EIGHT WITH 3800 (VIN L) ENGINE

Some 1991-92 Ninety Eight and Toronado, and early 1992 Eighty Eights equipped with 3800 T.P.I. (VIN L) engines, may exhibit a condition described as, engine does not stay running on initial cold start.

This calibration was a running change for the 1992 model year. Be sure to check MEM-CAL scanner I.D. as the vehicle may already have this correction.

If this condition is experienced and cannot be repaired by using currently published service diagnostic procedures, it may be necessary to install a new service MEM-CAL after basic engine controls and systems performance have been verified. Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
