PROPER BI06 DIAGNOSTIC DISPLAYS

LO X is displayed with LH and RH door handles released.

HI X is displayed momentarily with LH and/or RH door handles lifted, then reverts to LO X.

NOTICE: BI06 displays HI X momentarily throughout the test. LO X will be dis- played after HI X has been momentarily displayed. LO X denotes the condition has changed.

TESTS FOR IMPROPER DISPLAYS

BI06 displays LO O with LH and/or RH door handle lifted, but LO X does not appear.

1. Disconnect suspect door handle switch connector and connect a fused jumper wire from connector terminal 'B' to 'A'.

o If display reads LO O go to Step 2.

o If display reads HI X or LO X, replace door handle switch.

2. Ground terminal 'A' of the suspect door handle switch connector with the fused jumper.

o If display reads LO O, go to step 3.

o If display reads HI X or LO X, repair open in BLK/WHT (803) wire.

3. Connect terminal '1C13' of Body Computer Module (BCM) to ground with a fused jumper.

o If display reads LO O check terminal contact. Replace the Body Computer Module (BCM) if terminal contact is good.

o If display reads HI X or LO X, repair GRY (157) wire for an open.

BI06 displays HI X with LH and/or RH door handle released.

1. Disconnect LH door handle switch connector.

o If display reads HI X, go to Step 2.

o If display reads LO X, replace the LH door handle switch.

2. Disconnect RH door handle switch connector.

o If display reads HI X, go Step 3.

o If display reads LO X, replace the RH door handle switch.

3. Disconnect keyless entry module connector.

o If display reads HI X, go to Step 4.

o If display reads LO X, replace keyless entry module.

4. Disconnect the Body Computer Module (BCM). Connect an ohmmeter to terminal '1C13' of the BCM connector and ground.

o If continuity is measured, check/repair GRY (157) wire for a short to ground.

o If infinite resistance is measured, check for clean connection. If connection is good, replace Body Computer Module (BCM).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
