Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Ensure that the ambient light sensor is not covered and is receiving daylight conditions.
  3. Place the headlamp switch in the AUTO position.
  4. Block the wheels.
  5. Ensure the parking brake is disengaged.
  6. Place the transaxle in neutral.

Do the daytime running lamps (DRL) illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. With the scan tool, command the DRL ON.

Do the low beam headlamps illuminate at low intensity?

Go to Step 4

Test the DRL ambient light sensor signal and the low ref circuits of the body control module (BCM) for a short to voltage, short to ground, open or high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ambient light sensor.

Replace the ambient light sensor.
