Engine Oil

The engine requires a special engine oil meeting standard GM4718M. Oils meeting this standard can be identified as synthetic, and should also be identified with the American Petroleum Institute (API) Certified for Gasoline Engines starburst symbol. However, not all synthetic API oils with the starburst symbol will meet this standard. Look for and use only an oil that meets standard GM4718M. For the proper viscosity, see Engine Oil.

50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and use only DEX-COOL® Coolant. See Engine Coolant.

DOT 3 Hydraulic Brake Fluid (GM Part No. U.S. 12377967, in Canada 89021320).

Hydraulic Clutch System

Power Steering System

Windshield Washer

Windshield Washer Solvent.

Manual Transmission

Key Lock Cylinders

Multi-Purpose Lubricant, Superlube (Part No. U.S. 12346241, in Canada 10953474).

Rear Axle

SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant.

Rear Axle (Limited-Slip Differential)

SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant. With a complete drain and refill add 4 ounces (118 ml) of Limited-Slip Axle Lubricant Additive (Part No. U.S. 1052358, in Canada 992694) where required. See Rear Axle.

Chassis Lubrication

Chassis Lubricant (Part No. U.S. 12377985, in Canada 88901242) or lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI #2, Category LB or GC-LB.

Hood Latch Assembly, Secondary Latch, Pivots, Spring Anchor, and Release Pawl

Hood and Door Hinges
