Some customers may comment that the engine overheats. Comments may include the overheat indicator ON in the IP, engine overheat chime sounds, or a temperature rise in the DIC engine coolant temperature display. Technicians may find that the 60 amp cooling fan fuse is blown (open) and/or DTCs P0480 or P0691 set.
The cooling fan fuse may have blown due to an improper jump starting attempt.
Replace the blown 60 amp cooling fan fuse and verify that concern is eliminated. Inspect the coolant level in the coolant surge tank to verify that there was no loss of coolant. Clear any DTCs that have been set.
Instruct the customer on the correct procedure to jump start the vehicle. Refer to "Jump Starting" in the appropriate model and model year Owner Manual. The illustration above shows the correct locations of the remote positive terminal (1) and remote negative ground bracket (2). The remote negative ground bracket is marked GND (-).
Do NOT remove the UBEC cover when jump starting the vehicle.
