Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1828158  Size: SH
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  3. Disconnect the position 2 HO2S electrical connector (4) from the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2).
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  5. Object Number: 1828224  Size: SH

    Note: The HO2S uses a permanently attached pigtail and connector. This pigtail should not be removed from the sensor. Damage or removal of the pigtail or connector will affect proper operation of the sensor.

  6. Remove the HO2S. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 1828146  Size: SH
  8. Remove the catalytic converter to muffler nuts.

  9. Object Number: 1828148  Size: SH
  10. Have an assistant support the muffler assembly.
  11. Separate the muffler insulators (2) from the hangers (1).
  12. With the aid of an assistant, remove the muffler assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1828148  Size: SH
  1. With the aid of an assistant, position the muffler assembly.
  2. Install the muffler insulators (2) onto the hangers (1).
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1828146  Size: SH
  4. Install the catalytic converter to muffler nuts and tighten to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Object Number: 1828224  Size: SH
  6. Install the HO2S. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 Replacement.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 1828158  Size: SH
  9. Connect the position 2 HO2S electrical connector (4) to the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2).
  10. Install the CPA retainer.
  11. Close the hood.
