1. Rear Compartment Lid Release Malfunction 2. Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch Malfunction |
When the rear compartment lid release switch is operated, the rear compartment lid release switch signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) is switched to ground. The BCM receives the rear compartment lid release switch input and applies ground to the rear compartment lid relay control circuit. This energizes the trunk release relay coil, closing the switch side contacts, allowing battery voltage to be applied to the rear compartment lid release actuator and folding top cover actuator, releasing the folding top cover and opening the rear compartment lid.

⇒ | If the value does not change as the switch is pressed, refer to Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch Malfunction. |
⇒ | If the folding top cover or rear compartment lid does not release, refer to Rear Compartment Lid Release Malfunction. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal C for a short to ground. If circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the control circuit terminal 86 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the TRUNK RELSE relay. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the control circuit terminal 87 for a short to ground. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the folding top cover actuator does not activate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the folding top cover actuator. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the rear compartment lid release actuator does not activate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid release actuator. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the rear compartment lid release switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the rear compartment lid release switch. |
⇒ | If not within the specified range, replace the relay. |
