Warning: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

Preliminary Procedures

1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal connection. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. If equipped, remove the fuel tank protector. Refer to Fuel Tank Protector Replacement.

Water in Fuel Drain Plug

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
25 N·m (18  lb ft)

Procedure

1. Turn the water-in-fuel drain plug counterclockwise.
2. Drain the water completely.
3. When drained completely, turn the water-in-fuel drain fastener clockwise.
