Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.

  2. Object Number: 2020136  Size: MF

    Note: Use a 6-point socket to remove the oil filter cap. Do NOT replace the oil filter adapter for this condition.

  3. Remove the oil filter cap (1).
  4. Remove and discard the oil filter cartridge (2).
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  6. Place a suitable drain below the oil pan drain plug.

  7. Object Number: 1210967  Size: SH
  8. Remove the oil pan drain plug.
  9. Allow the oil to drain completely.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Install the oil pan drain plug and NEW O-ring seal.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug and NEW O-ring seal to X N·m (X lb ft).

  3. Lower the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 2020136  Size: MF

    Caution: Lubrication must be applied to the threads of the oil filter cap prior to installation. Failure to lubricate the oil filter cap threads can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.

  5. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2).
  6. Caution: Proper oil filter cap tightening is mandatory. Failure to tighten the oil filter cap to the proper specification can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.

  7. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.
  8. Note: Use a 6-point socket to install the oil filter cap.

  9. Install the oil filter cap (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter cap to X N·m (X lb in).

  11. Remove the oil fill cap.
  12. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.
  13. Install the oil fill cap.
