DTC Descriptor

DTC B071F 39: Remote PRNDL Indicator Internal Malfunction

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) receives LIN-Bus messages from the transmission range indicator module. If there is a checksum or memory malfunction in the transmission range indicator module it broadcast this message to the BCM.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BCM detects a checksum or memory fault in the transmission range indicator module.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The driver information center does not display the actual gear selector position.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC becomes history when the condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Replace the S3 Automatic Transmission Shift Lever and verify that the DTC does not reset.
  2. If the DTC resets, replace the K9 Body Control Module (BCM)
