Preliminary Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

Bracket Bolt (Qty: 2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
150 N·m (111 lb ft)

Front Brake Caliper And Bracket Assembly

Caution: Do not depress the brake pedal with the brake rotors and/or the brake drums removed, or with the brake calipers repositioned away from the brake rotors, or damage to the brake system may result.

Procedure

Without disconnecting the hydraulic brake flexible hose, pivot the caliper and bracket assembly upward and secure with heavy mechanics wire, or equivalent.

Tip
Do NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper.

Tighten
7 N·m (62 lb in)

Front Brake Rotor

Caution: Whenever the brake rotor has been separated from the wheel bearing flange, clean any rust or foreign material from the mating surface of the rotor and flange with the J 42450 hub cleaning kit. Failure to do this may result in increased lateral runout of the rotor and brake pulsation.

Clean the hub/axle flange and the brake rotor mating surfaces from any rust or corrosion.
