Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement GNC

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the rear tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  2. Remove and support the brake caliper with bracket as an assembly, without disconnecting the hydraulic brake hose from the caliper, and remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  3. Remove the rear axle upper control arm to knuckle bolt. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement.

Rear Wheel Hub Fastener (Qty: 3)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
90 N·m (66 lb ft) + 75 degrees

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the rear tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  2. Remove the wheel drive shaft retaining nut. Refer to Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement.
  3. Remove the rear spring. Refer to Rear Spring Replacement.
  4. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  5. Remove lower fastener shock absorber. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement.
  6. Remove outer fastener lower control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement.

Rear Wheel Hub Fastener (Qty: 3)

Procedure

Install NEW bolts.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
90 N·m(66 lb ft) + 60 degrees + 15 degrees

Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub

Procedure

  1. Install the TBD TBD , TBD TBD and TBD TBD , or equivalent, to the wheel bearing/hub assembly and secure with lug nuts.
  2. Using the TBD TBD or equivalent, begin to disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub assembly.
  3. Ensure the backing plate is positioned correctly during installation.
