The transmission control module (TCM) receives the kickdown switch signal via CAN bus The TCM needs this signal to select the appropriate gear and to choose the correct shift pattern.
• | The ignition voltage is between 10.2 V and 15.5 V. |
• | The engine speed is greater than 400 RPM for 2 s. |
• | The transmission is not in emergency mode. |
• | Accessory ON for more than 3 s. |
• | TCM communication is normal. |
• | DTC U0100 is not set. |
• | TCM receives accelerator kick down detected is "Active". |
• | Accelerator effective position is less than 65% for 2 s continuously. |
• | DTCs P1835 is Type D DTC. |
• | None. |

Verify DTC U0100 is not set.
⇒ | If DTC U0100 is set, diagnose this first. |
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool APP Angle parameter while depressing the accelerator pedal. The value should grow with the more depressed accelerator pedal until 100% with fully depressed pedal.
⇒ | If the value is not within the specified range, replace the K20 Engine Control Module (ECM). |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
