DTC Descriptor

DTC P1835: Kickdown Switch Signal Performance - CAN Signal

Circuit/System Description

The transmission control module (TCM) receives the kickdown switch signal via CAN bus The TCM needs this signal to select the appropriate gear and to choose the correct shift pattern.

Conditions for Running the DTC

P1835

    • The ignition voltage is between 10.2 V and 15.5 V.
    • The engine speed is greater than 400 RPM for 2 s.
    • The transmission is not in emergency mode.
    • Accessory ON for more than 3 s.
    • TCM communication is normal.
    • DTC U0100 is not set.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P1835

    • TCM receives accelerator kick down detected is "Active".
    • Accelerator effective position is less than 65% for 2 s continuously.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

P1835

    • DTCs P1835 is Type D DTC.
    • None.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

P1835

    • DTC P1835 is Type D DTC.
    • No fault decision for 5 min continuously.

Circuit/System Verification

Verify DTC U0100 is not set.

If DTC U0100 is set, diagnose this first.

Circuit/System Testing

Dynamic Test

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool APP Angle parameter while depressing the accelerator pedal. The value should grow with the more depressed accelerator pedal until 100% with fully depressed pedal.

If the value is not within the specified range, replace the K20 Engine Control Module (ECM).

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
