Power Steering Pump Replacement L4

Callout

Component Name

  1. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement, Drive Belt Replacement, Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
  3. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
  4. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  5. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

Procedure

Install a NEW power steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal prior to installation of the hose.

Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose Retainer

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
37.5 N·m (28 lb ft)

Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
21 N·m (16 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump

Caution: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  2. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

Install a NEW power steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal prior to installation of the hose.

Tighten
37.5 N·m (28 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
22 N·m(16 lb ft)

Caution: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  2. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
