DTC Descriptor

DTC P1895: Engine Torque Delivered Signal Message Counter Incorrect - CAN Signal

DTC P1896: Engine Control Module (ECM) Driver Torque Request Signal Invalid Data - CAN Signal

Circuit/System Description

The transmission control module (TCM) receives the engine torque signal and the driver requested engine torque via CAN bus The TCM needs this signal to select the appropriate gear and to choose the correct shift pattern.

Conditions for Running the DTC

P1895, P1896

    • The ignition voltage is between 10.2 V and 15.5 V.
    • The engine speed is greater than 400 RPM for 2 s.
    • The transmission is not in emergency mode.
    • Accessory ON for more than 3 s.
    • TCM communication is normal.
    • DTC U0100 is not set.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P1895

TCM receives engine actual steady state torque validity is "Invalid" for 4 s continuously.

P1896

TCM receives engine non-transmission regulated steady state torque validity is "Invalid" for 4 s continuously.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

P1895

    • DTCs P1895 is Type B DTC.
    • Driver requested engine torque = max torque N.m (ft-lb).
    • The TCM turns OFF all solenoids.
    • The TCM allows the vehicle to operate only in the second gear "R" range after a stop.

P1896

    • DTCs P1896 is Type C DTC.
    • Driver requested engine torque = max torque N.m (ft-lb).
    • The TCM turns OFF all solenoids.
    • The TCM allows the vehicle to operate only in the second gear "R" range after a stop.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

P1895

    • DTC P1895 is Type B DTC.
    • TCM receives engine actual steady state torque validity is "Valid" for 5 min continuously.

P1896

    • DTC P1895 is Type C DTC.
    • TCM receives engine non-transmission regulated steady state torque validity is "Valid" for 5 min continuously.
