Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 28467-500 Engine Support Fixture
    • Two of the J 28467-6A Engine Support Fixture Lift Hook Brackets
    • J 28467-7A Engine Support Fixture Lift Hook
    • J 28467-8A Engine Support Fixture Swivel Lift Hook
    • Two of the J 28467-34 Engine Support Fixture Lift Hook Wing Nuts
  1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mechanical.
  3. Install the J 28467-500 .
  4. Install the J 28467-6A .
  5. Install the J 28467-7A .
  6. Install the J 28467-34 .
  7. Install the J 28467-6A .
  8. Install the J 28467-8A .
  9. Install the J 28467-34 .
  10. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

  11. Disconnect the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the right (rear) exhaust manifold. Refer to Engine Exhaust.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Using the J 28467-34 s, raise the left (front) and lower the right (rear) of the engine in order to obtain clearance between the forward servo cover and the frame.
  14. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

  15. Position a drain pan under the forward servo cover.

  17. Remove the bolts and/or screws attaching the servo cover to the transaxle case.
  18. Remove the forward servo cover.
  19. Remove the forward servo cover O-ring.
  20. Remove the servo piston assembly.
  21. Remove the servo spring.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 28467-500 Engine Support Fixture
    • Two of the J 28467-6A Engine Support Fixture Lift Hook Brackets
    • J 28467-7A Engine Support Fixture Lift Hook
    • J 28467-8A Engine Support Fixture Swivel Lift Hook
    • Two of the J 28467-34 Engine Support Fixture Lift Hook Wing Nuts

  1. Install the servo spring.
  2. Install the servo piston assembly.
  3. Install the forward servo cover O-ring.
  4. Install the forward servo cover.
  5. Install the forward servo cover attaching bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the forward servo cover attaching bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in). Refer to

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Remove the drain pan from under the forward servo cover.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Using the J 28467-34 s, lower the left (front) and raise the right (rear) of the engine.
  10. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to

  11. Connect the three-way catalytic converter pipe to the right (rear) exhaust manifold. Refer to Engine Exhaust.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Remove the J 28467-34 .
  14. Remove the J 28467-7A .
  15. Remove the J 28467-6A .
  16. Remove the J 28467-34 .
  17. Remove the J 28467-8A .
  18. Remove the J 28467-6A .
  19. Remove the J 28467-500 .
  20. Install the engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mechanical.
  21. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery.
