Child Restraint Belt Tether Location Center - Third Row Bucket

Removal Procedure

Important: The child seat tether strap attaches or anchors in two different ways. The tether strap attaches to the third row outboard lower seat belt anchor bracket or the third row seat riser depending on the seat configurations. Use the child seat tether strap only in the second row.

  1. Unclip the tether strap spring clip from the anchor plate.
  2. Remove the anchor plate bolt and the nut.
  3. Remove the anchor plate from the bucket seat frame.

  4. Object Number: 179400  Size: SH
  5. Pull the tether strap from between the second row bucket seat cushion and the seat back.
  6. Remove the tether strap from underneath the head restraint if equipped.
  7. Remove the tether strap from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the tether strap to the vehicle.
  2. Route the tether strap underneath the head restraint if equipped.
  3. Route the tether strap between the second row bucket seat cushion and the seat back.

  4. Object Number: 179445  Size: SH
  5. Install the anchor plate to the buckle seat frame.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the anchor plate bolt and the nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the child seat tether strap anchor plate bolt and the nut to 10 N·m (89 in lb).

  9. Clip the tether strap spring clip to the anchor plate. Verify that the spring clip end closes once the spring clip is attached to the anchor plate.

Removal Procedure

Important: The child seat tether attaches or anchors in two different ways. The tether strap attaches to the third row outboard lower seat belt anchor bracket or the third row seat rise depending on the seat configurations. Use the child seat tether strap only in the second row.

  1. Slide the rear seat belt sleeve to the upward position in order to expose the tether strap anchor.
  2. Unclip the tether strap spring clip from the seat belt anchor plate.

  3. Object Number: 179642  Size: SH
  4. Remove the tether strap from underneath the head restraint if equipped.
  5. Remove the tether strap from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Route the tether strap underneath the second row seat head restraint if equipped.

  2. Object Number: 179411  Size: SH
  3. Remove the staple from the seat belt anchor sleeve. Then discard the staple.
  4. Slide the sleeve to the upward position in order to expose the seat belt anchor.
  5. Clip the tether strap spring clip to the anchor plate. Verify that the spring clip end closes once the tether strap spring clip is attached to the anchor plate.

Removal Procedure

Important: The child seat tether strap attaches or anchors in two different ways. The tether strap attaches to the third row outboard lower seat belt anchor bracket or the third row seat riser depending on the seat configurations. Use the child seat tether strap only in the second row.

  1. Unclip the tether strap spring clip from the anchor plate.

  2. Object Number: 179408  Size: SH
  3. Remove the tether strap from underneath the second row seat head restraint if equipped.
  4. Remove the tether strap from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Route the tether strap underneath the second row seat head restraint if equipped.
  2. Remove the carpet that covers the third row outboard anchor hole in the floor. The anchor hole location is 45 mm (1.77 in) inboard of the third row quarter trim panel. The anchor hole location is 440 to 600 mm (17.32 to 23.62 in) forward of the rear door.

  3. Object Number: 179410  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   4. Install the anchor bracket to the floor. Secure the anchor bracket with a bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the child seat tether strap anchor bracket bolt to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  6. Clip the tether strap spring clip to the anchor plate. Verify that the spring clip end closes once the spring clip is attached to the anchor plate.
