Steering Wheel Control Switches Replacement Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in SIR.
- Remove the steering wheel controls wire harness from the retainers
in the steering wheel.
- Remove the steering wheel control switch from the steering wheel
by pushing on the back of the switch through the opening in the steering wheel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the switch from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the steering wheel controls switch to the vehicle.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Push the steering wheel controls switch into the steering wheel.
- Install the steering wheel controls wire harness to the retainers
in the steering wheel.
- Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer
to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in SIR.
Steering Wheel Control Switches Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in SIR.
- Remove the steering wheel controls retaining screws from the back
of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
- As necessary, remove the horn switch ground wire connector from
the grounding bracket to allow removal of the steering wheel controls wire
harness.
- Remove the steering wheel controls wire harness connector from
the retainer.
- Remove the steering wheel controls switches and harness from the
inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
Installation Procedure
- Install the steering wheel controls switches and harness to the
inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
- Install the steering wheel controls wire harness connector to
the retainer on the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
- Route the steering wheel controls harness on the inflatable restraint
steering wheel module and if necessary, re-connect the horn switch ground
connector to the ground bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the steering
wheel controls retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the retaining screws to 2 N·m ( 18 lb in).
- Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer
to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in SIR.
