Check the vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

Are there any DTCs present?

Go to Step 2

Does the fuel gauge work?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Instrument Cluster Indicators and Gauges Inoperative in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console

1. Disconnect the engine oil level indicator switch connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Connect a (3 amp) fused jumper between the engine oil level indicator switch harness connector terminal A and ground.

Is the OIL LEVEL indicator on?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Disconnect the PCM connector C2.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the OIL LEVEL indicator on?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

1. Check for a short to ground in circuit 1173.
2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

1. Check for a poor connection or open in circuit 1174.
2. If OK, replace the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

Connect a (3 amp) fused jumper between the engine oil level indicator switch harness connector terminals A and B.

Is the oil level indicator on?

--

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 9

1. Check for a poor connection at the engine oil level indicator switch connector.
2. If OK replace the engine oil level indicator switch. Refer to Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch Replacement in Engine Controls.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 451 between the engine oil level indicator switch harness connector terminal B and G113.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK
