The Interior Lights System Check tests the operation of the body control
module (BCM). For more information regarding other BCM controlled systems,
refer to Body Control Module (BCM).

|
- Turn off the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch.
- Turn on the interior lamps override switch (enabling the interior
courtesy lights).
- Turn off the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Lower the driver door window in order to prevent lockout.
- Perform the following procedure while observing the interior courtesy
lights:
6.1. | Open and then close the left front door and the right front door,
one door at a time. |
6.2. | Open and then close the left sliding door, if so equipped, and
the right sliding door, one door at a time. |
6.3. | Open and then close the rear liftgate door. |

• | The interior courtesy lamps turn on when any door is open. |
• | The interior courtesy lights turn off when all the doors close. |

- Close all of the vehicle doors.
- Turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position while observing
the interior courtesy lights.
- Turn off the IP dimmer switch.

is in the DOME position. |

is deactivated. |

- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Open a vehicle door for at least 5 seconds, and then close
the door.
- Observe the interior courtesy lights.

• | Delayed illumination feature enabled (interior lighting modes 2
and 4): |
| The interior courtesy lights turn on for 25 seconds, then turn
off after the last door is closed. |
• | Delayed illumination feature disabled (interior lighting modes 1
and 3): |

- Ensure that the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
- Turn on the roof rail reading lamps.
- Turn the (IP) dimmer switch to the DOME position for at least
10 minutes.
| The interior lights turn off when any of the interior lights are left
on for more than 10 minutes with the ignition switch in the LOCK
or the OFF position.
On vehicles with less than 15 miles (24 km) total accumulated
miles (km), the interior lights turn off after 3 minutes instead of
10 minutes.

- Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK position to the RUN position,
then back to the LOCK position.
- Open a vehicle door for at least 5 seconds, then close
all of the vehicle doors.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position within 25 seconds
of the last door being closed, while observing the interior courtesy lights.
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Open a vehicle door for at least 5 seconds, then close
all of the vehicle doors.
- Press the lock on either power door lock switch within 25 seconds
of the last door being closed, while observing the interior courtesy lights.

• | Interior lighting modes 2 and 4: |
| The delayed illumination feature cancels (turns off the interior courtesy
lights) when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position. |
| Or, when pressing the lock on either power door lock switch. |
• | Interior lighting modes 1 and 3: |
| The delayed illumination feature is disabled, so when the last door
is closed, the interior courtesy lights deactivate. |

- Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK to the RUN position, then
back to the LOCK position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch while observing the interior
courtesy lights.

and 4): |
| The interior courtesy lights activate for 25 seconds upon removing
the key from the ignition switch. |
• | Exit lighting feature disabled (interior lighting modes 1
and 2): |

- Ensure that the key is removed from the ignition switch.
- Lock and close all of the vehicle doors.
- Insert the key into the driver door lock.
This test also works on the rear front door or the rear liftgate door
lock.
- Turn and hold the key for 1 second in the unlock position
in order to unlock the door.
Perform this action while observing the interior courtesy lights.
| The interior courtesy lights activate for 40 seconds upon unlocking
the door with the key.

- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Close all of the vehicle doors.
- Press the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter while
observing the interior courtesy lights.
- Wait 40 seconds.
- Press the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter while
observing the interior courtesy lights.
- Press the lock button on the keyless entry transmitter while observing
the interior courtesy lights within 40 seconds.

• | The interior courtesy lights activate for 40 seconds after
pressing the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter. |
• | During the 40 second illumination period, the interior
courtesy lights deactivate when pressing the lock button on the keyless entry
transmitter. |

- Close all of the vehicle doors.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Turn the switches for the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps
off and on.
