Removal Procedure
- Remove the front door opening sill plates. Refer to
Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Pull the front door opening
weatherstrip from the front door pinch-weld flange.
- Clean all adhesive from the pinch-weld flange.
Installation Procedure
Important: A mastic/sealer/glue is inside the new front door opening weatherstrip.
If you are using a new front door opening weatherstrip, do not use any weatherstrip
adhesive.
- Install the front door opening weatherstrip to the front door pinch-weld
flange.
- Align the appropriate dot to the starting point of the front door
opening weatherstrip at the upper rear corner of the front door pinch-weld
flange.
• | Use the weatherstrip with a green dot for the right side. |
• | Use the weatherstrip with a red dot for the left side. |
- Roll the remainder of the of the front door opening weatherstrip
onto the flange.
• | Fully seat the weatherstrip into the corners of the front door
opening. |
• | Do not stretch the front door opening weatherstrip during installation. |
- Join the loose end of
the front door opening weatherstrip to the seated end.
- Use the end of the tear strip at the front door opening weatherstrip
in order to pull the weatherstrip to the top of the instrument panel.
- Use the end of the tear strip at the front door opening weatherstrip
in order to pull the weatherstrip to the bottom of the instrument panel.
Important: Removing the tear strip should pull the inner lip of the front door
opening weatherstrip out over the trim. Determine if spooning of the front
door opening weatherstrip is needed in order to complete the installation.
- Cut the tear strip for removal.
- If using the old weatherstrip, hand spoon the lip over the interior
trim.
- Inspect the front door opening weatherstrip for creases or wrinkles.
- Install the front door opening sill plates. Refer to
Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement
in Interior Trim.
