OIL CANNING FLOOR PANS REPAIR PROCEDURE

SOME 1982 "A" AND "X" CAR FLOOR PANS MAY EXHIBIT AN "OIL CANNING" CONDITION IN THE FRONT AND/OR REAR FOOTWELL AREAS. THIS CONDITION, IF ENCOUNTERED, CAN BE CORRECTED BY FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BELOW. PROCEDURE 1.OPERATE FRONT SEAT INTO THE FULL REARWARD POSITION. 2.LOCATE AREA OF "OIL CANNING" BY APPLYING HAND PRESSURE ACROSS THE FRONT FOOTWELL AREA OF THE FLOOR PAN. 3.WITH FLOOR CARPET IN PLACE, USE A SUITABLE TOOL (SUCH AS A BLOCK OF WOOD) AND (SWAGE) FLOOR PAN DOWNWARD UNTIL THE "OIL CANNING" CONDITION IS ELIMINATED. 4.OPERATE FRONT SEAT INTO THE FULL FORWARD POSITION AND REPEAT STEPS 2 AND 3 FOR REAR FOOTWELL AREA. FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES, USE AN APPROPRIATE LABOUR OPERATION NUMBER FOR .2 HOURS.
