In order to reduce dealer investment in cores, speed credit and improve availability, effective June 1, 1993, all dealers with RAPID/RAPID Plus capability are requested to make application to return all cores on a daily basis, unless warranty considerations dictate otherwise. APPLICATION SHOULD BE MADE ON THE SAME DAY THE FAILED PART IS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE.
Also effective June 1, 1993, your RAPID "EXC" MR application input will generate a "RAPID CORE EXCHANGE AUTHORIZATION". A copy of the ANSWERBACK AUTHORIZATION is attached. Please note that a removed date is now required and is to be input in the Bin Location (Binloc) field of the "EXC" transaction. This is to reference the date the part was removed from the vehicle. In most cases, your ANSWERBACK AUTHORIZATION is produced. There will be no PC78 or material return tags mailed to you for all RAPID input exchange items.
The reason for requesting dealers to make application for exchange returns daily and creating a "RAPID CORE EXCHANGE AUTHORIZATION" is to take time out of the system. Benefits for our dealers are:
o Faster credit.
o Responds to National Dealer Advisory Council comments.
o Daily input through RAPID means a "free flowing process" where the dealer -- not the PDC -- is the controlling factor.
o Improved parts availability.
Help us to help you. Apply to return exchange parts daily.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
