LUGGAGE CARRIER NOISE INCORRECT INSTALLATION

REVISED 11/84 SOME 1984 "A" WAGONS MAY EXPERIENCE A WINDNOISE CAUSED BY THE ROOF LUGGAGE CARRIER. ENSURE THAT THE EXISTING CROSS MEMBERS OF THE LUGGAGE CARRIER ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY, AS SHOWN BELOW. IF THE CONDITION STILL PERSISTS THE CURRENT CROSS RAILS MAY BE REPLACED WITH THE FOLLOWING PARTS: NEW P/N CANCELLED P/N PART NAME 14086340 14044206 CROSS RAIL ASSEMBLY - ROOF LUGGAGE CARRIER (BRIGHT) 2 REQUIRED PER VEHICLE (BASE "A" CAR). 14086342 14079695 CROSS RAIL ASSEMBLY - ROOF CARRIER LUGGAGE (BLACK) 2 REQUIRED PER VEHICLE (EUROSPORT).

THE CROSS MEMBERS OF THE LUGGAGE CARRIER ON THE 6000 STATION WAGON CAN BE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. THE CORRECT INSTALLATION IS SHOWN IN THE ILLUSTRATION. THE BLUNT SIDE OF THE CROSS MEMBERS SHOULD FACE FORWARD. IF THESE ARE INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF A HOWLING NOISE AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH. (SEE ILLUSTRATION)
