SUBMISSION ASSISTANCE WARRANTY/TRANSPORTATION CLAIMS

This bulletin is being provided to make you aware of some of the latest changes in the Labor Time Guide that are causing claims to reject:

Warranty Claims

D3000 - AC System - Leak test and partial charge. This labor operation should be used only if the system appears to be discharged and the source of the leak cannot be determined. Since this is not a repair procedure, no more than 1# of Freon will be allowed. Claims submitted with more than 1# of Freon with this labor operation will be rejected.

N0680 & N0681 - Park and Turn Signal Bulbs - Replace (Rgt. & Lft.). These two operations have been deleted for 1984. You should use N0686 (one) or N0687 (all).

N2060 - Cargo Lamp Switch - Replace

"P" cars do not have cargo lamps - If you are replacing rear compartment lamp on a Fiero, use N2384 - Switch - Replace Rear Compartment Lamp.

R4020 - Actuator, Rear Compartment Lid Release - Replace

This operation deleted for 1984. Correct labor operation is N3270 Actuator Assembly, Rear Compartment Lid Release - Replace.

Transportation Claims

For metal repairs the appropriate paint repair (refinish, color coat, spot repair) labor operation must be claimed with the metal repair time shown in "Other Labor Hours."

Any labor operation with prefix "S" cannot be used for transportation claim submission. Also, labor operations A9000-A9999 cannot be used for transportation claims.

Please make sure all personnel involved with claim processing are aware of these changes. If you have any questions, please contact your district service manager.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
