SERVICE OPTION LABEL INFORMATION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: All 1984 Models

As a result of past recommendations from National Parts and Service Managers' Council, all car divisions have agreed to the installation of a service parts identification label on each vehicle effective with the production of the 1984 models.

The label (see sample), will provide proper identification of vehicle equipment to assist Dealers in servicing and determining correct replacement parts for GM customers. Included will be regular production options (RPO's) as well as standard and mandatory options. The label will be affixed to the inside of each passenger car vehicle at the assembly plant in the following locations by carline and body style.

The need for this label had been expressed by many members of Parts Managers' Councils over the past few years. We thank them for their strong support and efforts to improve GM Customer Satisfaction through this program.

This label is used in a similar manner as the R.P.O. microfiche service. In the upcoming weeks, we will be providing you with tips on how to best utilize this valuable service tool.

Please ensure all your Parts and Service Personnel are aware of the label locations and how to use this important information.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
