The lint condition has been noted as being characteristic to the Rocaille body cloth. The face yarn in the Rocaille body cloth is of a highly texturized material and the processing of this yarn is unique to the Rocaille body cloth. These two factors result in a lint pick up and mechanical retention of the lint by the seat trim material.
Lint removal from the seat trim material may be accomplished by using the following procedure:
1. Vacuum the car thoroughly.
2. Remove the lint from the trim with a lint brush, obtainable at most department stores.
3. Spray the trim material with a GM Fabric Sealer (Part No.1050430), Pro-Gard Fabric Sealer or equivalent. Follow the manufacturer's label directions. Proper treatment will require at least one and one-half (1-1/2) cans of the fabric sealer.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
