This bulletin cancels and replaces bulletin 89-1-10 issued 6/89.
Some of the above vehicles may exhibit the subject condition at engine speeds ranging from idle to 1700 rpm.
If customer's comments are received on this condition, it may be addressed by the installation of a new mounting brace for the A/C compressor and the addition of a new muffled A/C hose assembly.
This new hose assembly may be used in conjunction with the installation of a new compressor brace or it may be added for additional noise improvement to a vehicle that already has the brace installed.
The 1990 early production vehicles with the 3.1L engine should have the compressor brace but not the new muffled A/C hose assembly. Breakpoints are not available at this time.
The part numbers for the A/C brace, attaching parts, A/C hose assembly and the installation procedure are as follow:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
