OIL PRESS. LIGHT FLICKERS NEW OIL PRESSURE SENDER

1987 PONTIAC 6000 WITH LB6 2.8L V-6 ENGINE AND U21 OR U52 GAGE CLUSTER

"Please discard bulletin 87-8-11, dated 3/87. This bulletin is being revised only to change the section number.

Condition:

---------- On a 1987 Pontiac 6000 with LB6 2.8L V-6 engine and U21 (analog gages) or U52 (digital gages), the oil pressure warning light may flicker at idle, even though the oil pressure gage is operating correctly. These vehicles have both a gage and a warning light.

Cause:

----- An oil pressure sender with a high trigger point and a warning light with a low trigger point may cause a flicker at low oil pressure (idle), even though the oil pressure is within specifications. This was corrected in production at VIN H9231415 at Oshawa and VIN HT231309 at Tarrytown.

Repair:

------ Install a new oil pressure sender, P/N 10068576. Use this sender only for vehicles built prior to the above VIN's. For vehicles after the above VIN's, use the normally released sender, P/N 10068581.
