BULLETIN COVERS:

Service part information on a new second clutch piston inner seal (614B) for all 1984 through 1988 vehicles equipped with a THM 440-T4 transaxle. This new seal uses a different material (Viton Tm) than the previous seal and can be identified by its part number (8668074) molded into the lip of the seal (Figure 2).

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE: (Figure 1) -------------------------- October 30, 1987 (Julian Date 303), all 1988 THM 440-T4 transaxles were built using the new 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B).

SERVICE ACTION:

When servicing the second clutch assembly on a 1984 through 1986 THM 440-T4 transaxle either the new seal or previous seal may be used. However, when servicing the second clutch assembly on a 1987 or 1988 THM 440-T4 transaxle, only use the 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B) contained in the service package listed in the Service Parts Information section.

* NOTE: This seal package must be ordered when using the following overhaul packages:

Discard the 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B) contained in these overhaul packages if it is not identified as shown in Figure 2.
