If an intermittent or inoperative center high mounted stop lamp due to a heat distorted socket is encountered in a 1988 Sunbird Coupe both sockets must be installed using part number 5972532 available from GMSPO. All service stock of this part uses a new heat resistant material. The production stock was corrected beginning with VIN J7544390.
