Subject:Service VME -- Rattle Noise from Rear of the Roof Headliner Area

Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME

Some customers and dealers have reported a rattle noise coming from the rear roof/headliner area. This noise may be observed while operating the vehicle on a rough road surface, but is most frequently reported as a roof flutter sound as the vehicle is being blown dry in some car wash operations. Owners may also comment about the noise or notice movement of the overhead console assembly during the forced air drying cycle in the car wash. This condition may be the result of the roof outer panel not being properly bonded to one or more of the three roof bows located under the headliner assembly. If this condition is found after headliner removal, the roof bows may be re-bonded using either GM part numbers 12378567, medium set, or 12378566, fast set, adhesive kits. Lord Fusor® Adhesives also markets products under their part numbers 108B/109B for medium set and 110B and 111B for fast set material. Product reports on this concern would be appreciated.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
